For the past 23 years, Wendy has been involved in the field of education and is committed to each and every student’s success. She focuses on their strengths to find their full potential. She is a firm believer in multi-sensory instruction as she recognizes the powerful impact it has on children. She believes that Orton-Gillingham offers dyslexic children options which empowers them to achieve their academic aspirations.
Wendy has an education degree as well as a post-baccalaureate in special education in learning disabilities and is a member of the International Dyslexia Association. Over the past 23 years, Wendy has worked collaboratively with speech language pathologists, psychologists and other community professionals to design educational programs to ensure every student is successful. She has worked with First Nations and has certificates in the seven grandfathers’ teachings and restorative justice circles.
Wendy is excited about being a part of the British Columbia Learning Centre and is dedicated to continue to build awareness and understanding of the work of the B.C. Learning Centre.

For the past 33 years, Heather has been employed by Fraser Academy in a variety of roles, including Head Tutor and Director of Language Training, where she has concurrently trained tutors from across Canada and United States in the Orton-Gillingham approach.
Heather is a member of the International Dyslexia Association, the Canadian Academy of Therapeutic Tutors, and the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators; as well as served on the board of the BC International Dyslexia Association, the BC Learning Disabilities Association and the Zion Lutheran School.
During her 38 years as an Orton-Gillingham practitioner, Heather has tutored hundreds of students in grades two to twelve, has mentored countless teachers and tutors, and has worked with many prominent psychologists and other educational professionals in an effort to help children with dyslexia. Heather’s passion comes from being a parent of two dyslexic sons and being a dyslexic herself, giving her firsthand experience of the difference multi-sensory language training makes on the lives of the students and their parents.
